Team News Wire
The Lions sign the following rookies and welcome them to the Detroit Lions:

1st Round: C Maurkice Pouncey 6'4" 304lbs 86ovr: The Lions organization continues to build to their offensive line. Last year top draft pick, RG Cory Wright (101 pancakes) worked well, so we decided to make this years #1 pick Center M. Pouncey. Long time Lion center D. Raiola wanted out of Detroit so naturally we went after the best center in the draft. Pouncey has good size and has a high strength (92 str) skill. He can easily play any other position on the line and is a good pass blocker (90pbk) as well as a run blocker (91rbk). As soon as he steps on the field, he is an upgrade to our offensive line.

2nd Round: WR Damian Williams 6'1" 197lbs 82ovr: We needed to replace an aging M. Furrey. We really lucked out to see Williams slip to the second round because of the abundant picks of wide receivers taken in the first round. Williams will be our #3 WR and will bring speed (92spd), acceleration (94acc) and height (6'1") to this position. Williams also has high awareness (83awr) for a young receiver. Damian Williams has two great mentors, Roy Williams and C. Johnson, to show him the ropes.

3rd Round: D'Anthony Smith 6'2" 304lbs 82ovr: DT has always been our strong position on the defensive line with big S. Rogers and C. Redding but we saw this talented DT and could not pass him up. Smith is not as tall as most DTs but is a plus 300 pounder. Smith is also pretty quick for his size (63spd) and (72acc) and will back up Rogers and Redding.

4th Round: LG Brandon Carter 6'6" 329lbs 80ovr: At this point in the draft we were looking for a backup but somehow Carter slipped down and we were there to grab him up. We have Dre Walsh penciled in for the starting LG but with Carters size and talent, he definitely will be battling Walsh for the starting LG position. Another young player that may help with our rebuilding of our offensive line.
