Going into this coming season no other Gm will be looked at harder for his offseason moves then the Chiefs gm/head coach Bill Walsh jr. The Chiefs are coming off a disappointing 7-9 season that was filled with ups and down. It was clear that an offseason move would need to be made in order to get this young and upcoming team in the right direction. Lead by their young Qb Brodie Croyle the chiefs showed promise to be the next big offensive power in the league. However, no one could expect the level of change that chiefs were prepared to take this offseason. During the offseason the Chiefs would move the face of the organization Larry Johnson. Many league insiders feel the move is a poor at attempting to bring dramatic change for a team that under preformed to the expectations set early on in the last year season. Along with bring along Larry Johnson the chiefs trade for veteran corner back Al Harris which should upgrade an already overachieving secondary. We caught up with the chiefs GM/head coach. Here is a small part of that interview.

Reporter : How are things coach?
Walshjr:I’m good always glad to talk football. It’s that time of the year when the juicy get going and you just want to start the season so happy to be here.
Reporter: Ya, I know what your saying. So coach your team is coming off of what most would call a poor season. In the offseason its clear the objective of any organization is to correct the flaws of his team so coming in to the follow year the team is able to be successful. League wide tho you come under fire because of the trade of Larry Johnson
Walsh jr. Well I don’t really listen to those media outlets so at the end of the day I know I have to just do my job. Larry Johnson is a great kid and will always be remembered by our organization. We wish him the best in anything he does. However, organizationally speaking we felt the value we were able to get help our team out in the long run. This team isn’t one player away from a super bowl. It was clear by last year’s season that this team was hurting in many areas. We felt by spreading the value that comes with such a talented player our overall team would be able to stronger. The fact that we were able to upgrade in so many area speaks of the player that Lj is. We like our offseason moves of adding a solid veteran Linebacker in Brookings, Vrabel , and Al harris. In reviewing last year season we felt that our youth more than anything hurt this team.
No organization stays the same. The Chicago Bulls at one point no longer had Michael Jordan and they moved on. I learned from my dad with dealing with the transition of great players like Joe Montana that a good coach builds a system and adds players and not the other way around. WE have a strong belief in the system and you just have to stick to it despite those on the outside that may attack your discussions.
